STEPS provides support to families and individuals and works to raise awareness and understanding about clubfoot, hip dysplasia and other lower limb conditions.

Last year over 2000 families contacted STEPS, often in desperation, for clear information about their child’s condition, treatment options available and how to care for their child on a daily basis.

STEPS is entirely independent of the NHS and relies solely on charitable donations for its survival.

Are you able to make a donation towards our work?

In 2010/11 out of every £1 spent we spent 83p on our charitable objectives and 17p on fundraising and governance

We are sure that you recognise the importance of what we do, and know that by making a donation to STEPS, we can continue to provide vital services for all those with and affected by lower limb conditions.

Gift Aid - at no extra cost to you!

The Government's Gift Aid scheme allows us to reclaim tax on donations from April 2000 and into the future. That means that for every £1 you give to STEPS, we can now reclaim 25p from the tax man.

It’s easy – just fill in a form

The deal is, you have to be a UK taxpayer and you have to give your address to the charity, but it’s a painless way to give more. All you have to do is fill in a Gift Aid declaration. This means that you confirm that you are a UK tax payer and that you are happy for us to reclaim the tax. All donations qualify – large or small, regular or one-off, and whatever the method of payment.

It all adds up, so to find out more, please contact Julie Charlton on 01925 750274 or email julie@steps-charity.org.uk or refer to our frequently asked questions.

Regular Giving

STEPS is the leading voice of lower limb conditions. Everything we do is about valuing and supporting individuals, families and carers affected by clubfoot, hip dysplasia or any other lower limb condition.

Donating regularly on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis is one of the very best ways in which you can support our work.

As a charity which relies solely on voluntary donations, regular donations allows us to plan for the future. Having a regular income stream from our direct debit donors means that we can plan ahead with confidence.

Other benefits of setting up a regular gift are:

  • It is quick and simple
  • It is flexible around you - you are in control of your gifts
  • It is easy to manage for you and for STEPS.

Your gifts will go towards helping anyone affected by a lower limb condition - through research, support, information and campaigning

How to set up a regular donation with us

If you would like to support us with a regular donation direct from your bank or building society account you can do so by completing our regular supporter form and return to us.

Gift In Celebration

Weddings, birthdays and anniversaries are times for celebration and for giving gifts.. However, nowadays many of us already have all the material possessions we need and ask guests to make a donation to charity in lieu of presents.

If you are having a celebration and would like to support STEPS as part of your celebration we are here to help.

How we can help you

  • You could set up an online fundraising page for guests to make a donation and the money comes directly to STEPS
  • If you would simply like to take a collection for STEPS at your reception, dinner, party or gathering, please ask us for one of our handy cardboard collection boxes.
  • We can offer personalised envelopes which you may wish to send out with party invitations or indeed leave on the tables for guests to complete at your event. The ideal way to ask your friends to give a little something at their discretion to a charity that is close to your heart.
  • We would be more than happy to send a thank you to anyone who has kindly donated in lieu of gifts for your special occasion - just let us know on the gifts in celebration form.
  • After your event, we'll also send you a certificate which will let you know how much has been raised from your special occasion.

Making a donation?

Please send a cheque (payable to STEPS) with the completed gifts in celebration form to:

STEPS, Wright House, Crouchley Lane, Lymm, WA13 0AS

If you have any questions about giving in celebration and would like to speak to someone in person please contact Julie on 01925 750274 or email julie@steps-charity.org.uk

Your support is valuable to us and we thank you and your guests in advance for supporting STEPS at your special celebration.

Gift In Memory

Remembering someone special

When we lose a loved one, it can be helpful to remember them in a meaningful way. A gift given in their memory, to a cause that was dear to their heart, can often help to bring consolation at a time of grief.

Your gift can help the memory of a friend or relative live on by funding the vital work we do with children and adults.

You can rest assured that any money donated in memory of your friend or relative will be used wisely. In 2010/11 out of every £1 spent we spent 83p on our charitable objectives and 17p on fundraising and governance

Payroll Giving

Making a difference to STEPS doesn’t need to be taxing!

Payroll Giving is a scheme that enables you to give regularly to STEPS from your gross salary (before income tax is deducted). It is simple, quick and effective and guarantees a regular flow of funds to support children and families affected by clubfoot, hip dysplasia and other lower limb conditions.

Your Payroll Gift is an easy tax-effective way to give monthly to STEPS so it costs you less to give more. For example, if you choose to give £10 per month, the amount you actually pay is just under £8 for a basic rate taxpayer. If you're in the higher tax bracket, your £10 donation costs you just £6.

Ask your employer about giving to STEPS through your payroll and if they don’t offer the scheme, you could always set up a direct debit payment.

Legacy Giving

Remembering STEPS in your will means you are giving a gift from one generation to the next, and your gift will not cost you a penny during your lifetime.

You do not have to be wealthy to leave a gift in your Will and we understand that you will probably want to provide for your loved ones before making any donation. However, a gift of any size will make a huge difference to a small charity like STEPS.

Our work is vital and it needs to continue. Our vision is that anyone affected by clubfoot, hip dysplasia and any other lower limb condition receives the best standard of treatment, information and support that they need.

You can help to make this vision a reality by leaving a gift in your Will. If you have already made a Will, but would like to leave a gift to STEPS you can do so by making a simple addition to your existing Will. This is called a Codicil.

If you do not have a Will at the moment, you may need to see a solicitor. Although you will have to pay a fee, you will receive sound professional advice and can be sure that your wishes will be achieved. Before you see a solicitor, it is useful to make a list of all your assets.

Most gifts made during your lifetime are tax-free, as long as you make them at least seven years before your death. If you don’t, inheritance tax will be taken from all that you own above the current threshold amount.
