A guide to Talipes/Clubfoot
Many parents are often distressed when they find out that their baby has talipes or clubfoot as it is also known. Life can suddenly feel overwhelming and filled with worries and unanswered questions: Is it their fault? What is talipes/clubfoot? Will their child walk? What can be done for their new baby?
It may be helpful to remember that it is absolutely normal to feel like this. Whether you have just found out at the prenatal scan that you are expecting a baby with talipes/clubfoot or you are midway through treatment, hopefully this section of the website will reassure you that it is an easily treatable condition. Using the Ponseti method, a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment, most children are treated successfully and eventually your child should have pain free functioning feet and be just as active as any other child.
Please download our FREE booklet called A Parents' Guide to Talipes/Clubfoot for more detailed information about The Ponseti Method and care advice. You can also view our short film about The Ponseti Method.
